Round up

We added 2 days to the start of our 2 week sojourn and 2 days to the end, spending time with our family.

We had 13 nights in paid accommodation and 7 nights free camping. The most we paid was $55 in Lightning Ridge and also in Cunnamulla for a powered site. We stayed at 10 different places. Goodooga and Charlotte's Plains were both new places for us.

We took a few less travelled dirt roads, 2 were really good but 1 was a bit average.

This trip we travelled 2,508 kms.

Our Journey has now done 41,780km.         Our previous camper trailer 47,782km.

Making our total travelled since I retired 89,562 kms, just on the eastern half of Australia.

Still working on getting to the western half.

Day 20. Home. 25.6.25

Lots of visitors again early this morning.

Helped the toddlers do a bit of yard work this morning before heading home.

2 year olds are easily distracted 🤣💙💙

Packed up and headed for home, only stopping in Childers for a few essentials.

Today we travelled 105kms.

The temperature was 11.7° this morning at Lakeside and by the time we got home  it was 25.7°

Day 19. Biggenden. 24.6.25

Foggy start to the day. Morning temperature was 10.6°

Gave Rach a hand with a bit of yard work.

Our dinner guests 🤔
Beef stew in the pot.

Dinner was a little over cooked but we ate it anyway 🤷‍♀️
We had an amazing score count for satellites, shooting stars and plane viewing tonight. Everyone got a biscuit or 2!
Today's top temp was 26.6°

Day 18. Biggenden 23.6.25

Departed Possum Park just before 8.30. Stopped in Chinchilla for a coffee & farewelled G&C.

Cute garden ornaments at the cafe.

9% descent
Next stop was a loo break in Proston.

The road from Proston to Hivesville is quite hilly and windy.
11% descent
Stopped at Coalstoun Lakes General store to try their advertised 'great coffee ' which was pretty good.
1 last stop in Biggenden to get some groceries so we could cook on the fire tomorrow night. Finally made it to Rachel and John's, up on the hill. We set up, checked out their shouse (shed-house) then the rains started coming our way.
Made ourselves at home even though they weren't there 😁

Thankfully the rain didn't last long. The sunset wasn't as spectacular as it has been on other visits due to cloud cover.
The clouds appeared to be stuck on the mountain tops.

Not enough visible sky for satellite spotting 🛰 tonight so we cooked chicken and fried rice inside and relaxed for the evening.

Today's temperature range was 8.8° this morning at PossumPark to 24.8° at Lakeside this afternoon.

We travelled 342 kms.

Day 17. Possum Park 22.6.25

More pics from the campground.

I disturbed a big huntsman when I opened the door to the TV room.

Morning Bunker Walk 3.4km Loop
Follow White Rocks around the 20 WWII ammunition bunkers.
1-8 & 10-16 are locked storage bunkers, 9 is an open bunker, 17,19,20 are accommodation, 18 is the park office. Julie and David are the owners of Possum Park.

Pied Currawong.

Some bunkers have been converted into accommodation.

This little van was made by hand by the church minister who lives in it.
A man proof fence, 19 strands of barbed wire, still standing from the WWII era.
We cooked toasties for lunch on the fire.
Afternoon forest walk,  2.7km loop:

This is the flattest and widest of the fire trails. You may come across some kangaroos and wallabies early in the morning and you will always hear a selection of birds even if they are hard to spot.

You will walk through dry regenerated forest areas and on the edge of open grass plains and close to the windmill and dam.

Walk through the dry forest and a recently cleared area where you might spot the windmill to the left in the distance.

Julie, one of the owners, offered to show us through the TAA plane.

Ensuite.
The plane is only used for family accommodation as they have found it difficult to get insurance for paying guests.

There's a light in the tail which shines through the glass wall of the bathroom and acts as a night light.
Next we went to see the family igloo. A purpose built bunker look a like set up for 10 people.

We also had a look through some cabins, then sat around the communal fire pit and listened to a few stories.
Dinner was in the camp kitchen, followed by a game of phase 10.
Today's temperatures were 9-22°
